The Xtreme Dragbike Association
(XDA) takes Motorcycle Drag
Racing to Virginia Motorsports
Park for the 32nd annual MTC
Engineering Summer Nationals on
June 22-24, 2018.
Are you ready to run on the
smoothest racing surface ever in
your racing career? Because next
weekend, XDA racers will think
they are racing on glass!
Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP)
was purchased by Tommy and Judy
Franklin last October, and along
with Allen Carpenter and they
immediately started on facility
improvements. They removed the
entire racing surface and put in
a brand-new state of the art
concrete racing surface, wall to
wall from the water box all the
way past the 1/4 mile. The
concrete surface was done in a
single pour to give racers the
best possible surface to race
on. The water seepage that VMP
was known for in the past has
been solved with new drainage
systems that run down both sides
of the track. Beautification of
the property has been made from
everything to all new Musco
lighting, new signage, tower
upgrades and new landscaping to
give VMP a prestigious feel that
will make you excited to be
there the moment you roll
through the gate.
VMP is also well prepared for
anything we throw at her with
their famous rotating tire drag,
a new track scrubber, and
sprayer to lay down that sweet
smell of VHT.
Last weekend VMP hosted the NHRA
Nationals, and racers and tuners
were ecstatic about the new race
surface. Top Fuel racer Steve
Torrence and Pro Stock driver
said, "The track is smooth as
glass." And many crew chiefs
were calling it the smoothest
and flattest they’ve seen.
Jason Miller and Allen Carpenter
will be working together all
weekend to deliver the best
track prep for every class from
the time the first bulbs drop
until the last pass of the
weekend. So, the short of it is,
traction will be unreal at VMP
next weekend!
Orient Express Pro Street
Class Points Leader – Mark
Gargiulo
The Gangsta from Massachusetts
may be leading the points put
he’s going to have his hands
full keeping that lead as Orient
Express Pro Street racers fight
for a top ten spot for the
chance to compete in front of
30,000 fans at the World Cup
Finals Import vs. Domestic event
in November at MDIR in a special
$5,000 to win Pro Street
Shootout sponsored by Platinum
General Services.
Brad Mummert’s Old School GS
ridden by Richard Gadson will be
making its season debut in
Virginia with a new fuel
injection system. Also making
their first XDA appearance of
the year will be Jason Dunigan,
Gabe Frederick, Keith Correia,
Jeremy St. Julien, and Darion
Payne. Chris Connelly Jr. and
Gaige Herrera have both taken
recent wins at other events and
will be heading into Virginia
looking for a winning streak.
The rivalry between Justin
Shakir and Mark Gargiulo will be
front and center as these two
have promised to line up against
each other for every qualifying
run of the weekend. Gargiulo has
a new paint scheme to show off,
and Shakira plans to show up
with fresh motors to improve on
his personal best ET of 6.749 at
214 mph that he ran at the last
event.
Eighteen Pro Street riders are
already confirmed for VMP,
including Rodney Williford,
Jordan Haase, James Herbert,
Justin Shakir, Ryan Schnitz,
Jeremy Teasley, Doug Witt, Jimmy
Murphy, Ray Lee, and many more!
The heat will be turned up to
climb the GOAT list, grab those
valuable XDA points, and take
their shot at a guaranteed
$3,000 to win purse.
DME Racing Real Street
Class Points Leader – Spencer
Claycomb
We are expecting a full field of
entries in DME Racing Real
Street at VMP, as many teams
finally have their bikes ready
to take advantage of 2018 rule
changes. This hand clutch class
features a nice mix of newcomers
and veteran racers that will
keep fans excited with each pair
that takes the tree. Current ET
record in the class is held by
points leader Spencer Claycomb
with a 7.659, while Eddie
Chapman holds the MPH record at
193.16. And the category may be
dominated with Suzuki entries,
but one racer is defying the
odds, Shayne Proctor on his 2012
BMW S1000RR plans on giving the
Suzuki and Kawasaki’s entries
hell this year as he hunts for
his first Real Street win.
HTP Performance Grudge
Get ready for some serious
grudge action; the XDA has added
the "Running of the Bulls" to
Saturday night’s line-up. The
Grudge event will feature three
grudge shootouts: Pro Extreme,
Pro Nitrous, and Pro Liter. Each
class will be limited to eight
entries and promises to be one
of the best Grudge events you
will witness this year. With
track prep by the best in the
business on the smoothest
surface available, riders won’t
be able to cry foul when they
twist the throttle. Get your new
excuses ready!
Numerous teams have already
locked in, Koolaid, Grave
Digger, Hannibal, Under The
Influence, YellowJacket,
Kingpin, Rocket Science, Jizzle,
Airwolf, Soldier of Fortune,
Dead Man and more are ready for
their 8K payday. Limited spots
are still available, sign up now
and reserve yours now at
www.xdaracing.com/bulls.
XDA has also added Tracy
Robinson, aka Miss Budlight
Lime, to the staff line up as
the Grudge Announcer. Hands down
Tracy is the most knowledgeable
woman in grudge racing. She
knows all the bikes and riders
and will be able to dazzle the
crowd with all her grudge
knowledge and insight for
Saturday night’s shootout
events.

Vance & Hines 4.60
Class Points Leader – Michael
Thyen
2017 Champion Boo Brown is on a
hot streak, and he will be ready
to eradicate the rest of the
Vance & Hines 4.60 class come
Sunday morning. This past
weekend he took three wins at
the IDBL event to redeem the two
runner-up finishes he had at the
XDA season opener. With almost
thirty wheelie-bar racers
confirmed for next weekend, 4.60
promises to deliver the most
action in the world’s quickest,
2-wheeled index category.
The FBR Shop 5.60
Class Points Leader – Jeremy
Teasley
The FBR Shop points leader,
Jeremy Teasley has been on fire
this year in the sportsman ranks
running multiple classes and
events with hardly any weekends
off. The ‘Teasley Show’ has
earned a 9-point lead in the
Dragbike.com BAMF points series
that tallies points over several
sanctions for sportsman racers.
He will ride into Virginia with
a 22-point lead over his
competitors, but Ted Harvey,
Spencer Claycomb, and Kevin
Adams will be hoping for a
first-round matchup to take him
out and put a stop to his
sportsman reign.
Shinko Tires Crazy 8’s
Class Points Leader – Dustin Lee
Shinko Crazy 8’s is expecting
50+ racers for the inaugural
event at VMP. With this much
competition, point leaders
Dustin Lee and Jeremy Teasley
won’t be able to let their guard
down, not even in qualifying.
New for 2018, qualifying points
can now make or break a
championship when it comes down
to the wire. The number one
qualifier earns 8 points while
the seventeen qualifiers and
below earn zero. There is no
easy pass when a championship
quest is on the line.
Mickey Thompson Tires Top
Sportsman
Class Points Leader – Hank
Lovett
Mickey Thompson Tires Top
Sportsman offers the potential
of $9,000 of payout over two
days. The bump spot in this
class is typically around an
8.30, making the 32-bike field
extremely competitive. Michael
Daddio is coming from Chicago,
Illinois with the sole purpose
of qualifying for this class.
Due to a motor carnage before
the XDA season opener, this will
be his first XDA event this
year, and you won’t be able to
miss his sparkly blue Hayabusa
in the staging lanes. This year
he has been going rounds at
other events in Top Gas running
8.20’s, but rumor has it, he is
sandbagging. Let’s see what he
can do next weekend under the
watchful eye of his tuners.
MPS Racing Pro ET
Class Points Leader – Brian
Guarino
Our MPS Racing Pro ET points
leaders, Brian Guarino and Mike
Schulz, are both Virginia
natives that are separated by
only 1 point for the lead. Mike
Schulz has a deadly consistent
Hayabusa that any ET racer would
want. Mike’s only maintenance is
checking his tire pressure, so
he can efficiently run three
classes at every event without
breaking a sweat. Mike runs
Crazy 8’s and Street ET along
with Pro ET, giving him a chance
at a $9,000 payday every time he
enters the track.
Brock’s Performance Street ET
Class Points Leader – Roy
Johnson
With a good 40% of the ET field
from Virginia, we are excited to
bring them a national event to
their backyard. Points leader
Roy Johnson will have a home
track advantage against the
other 100+ entries that will
fill the lanes for Street ET.
But will his lead of eleven
points be enough to hold on to
the spot with that many
challengers? With round one
re-entry available both days,
anything can happen in this
class.
Chris and Jason Miller have also
added two more permanent staff
positions that will attend every
event this year. Michael Kohut
will be the official starter for
every event to maintain
consistent starting line
procedures. And Timi Seamon has
been added as the Winner's
Circle Coordinator. She will be
greeting winners, bringing
trophies to the circle, and
helping riders fill out their
contingency forms. “We are
thrilled to have such a solid
team at our events,” said Chris
Miller. “Consistency will keep
our events running smoother to
benefit our racers.”
With over 700 Professional,
Sportsman, and Grudge motorcycle
drag racers in competition, they
will be competing for $58,000 in
cash purse at this event! The
event will also feature a vendor
midway full of great deals on
motorcycle parts, accessories
and apparel. Event sponsor, MTC
Engineering will also have the
world’s only V-8 Top Fuel Suzuki
Drag bike on display, so make
sure June 22-24 is on your
schedule!
We will see you in one week at
Virginia Motorsports Park for an
exciting weekend of motorcycle
action on the smoothest surface
available!
